Moments before this photo was taken, Meg and I picked (stole) a massive ripe pomegranate off a tree while no one was looking and snuck it into my bag. The heat of the day had not yet dissipated and I was feeling a bit too warm in my jeans, a little self-conscious of my make-up free state and I knew my hair really needed a wash. But I was also grateful that Sus was happy to expel precious polaroid film on me.
In the moment this was taken, I felt awake, open, happy and so grateful. Its a feeling I am getting used to.
Much of the last few years has been about healing; working through the ‘stuff’ brought up by this big soul-love, irrecoverably changing my body with kindness, and letting myself imagine the life I really really want. I have written before, about the sense of being prepared for something, and there is a quiet giddiness about this still. Its feels kind of epic.
Behind the scenes, I am stretching my wings into coaching work and I have found that Nora Ephron was so right: ‘everything is copy’. All of my learnings and losses, combined with almost twenty years of supporting thousands of people through organisational change: it has all brought me to here.
And so I’ll be making a few changes around the Magical Mystery Tour over the next few months. This little corner of the information superhighway brings me so much joy and connection, I am getting ready to expand it to take in my new bigness.
Today is my thirty ninth birthday and to celebrate I made a little something for you.

Happy Birthday! I have read almost your whole blog over the last two weeks. Your writing is beautiful, sincere and very funny. I have laughed out loud many times about your descriptions of things, especially about getting stuck talking to an ‘important penis’ at work functions (April 9 2008), what you like about M&S bakery biscuits (March 24 2009) and the reason why you and your brother are unembarassable (September 21 2008). Good stuff, I look forward to reading more about your life. Your journey is very inspiring.

We have a little marble shelf on the window in our kitchen. It is intended to ripen fruits in the waning October sun.
This morning, we’ll crack into the pomegranate that’s waiting there. My daughter will ask why (because pomegranate splitting is NOT normal Friday morning fare) and I will say: in honour of a wise, beautiful and heartful woman’s birthday.
She will nod and we will munch and she will wonder about you all day.
